How to play music (mp3) on the alcatel 1066 & 1066d and use the media player
I would like to use the alcatel 1066 as a media player. According to the manual this is possible and the phone supports the mp3 format. This is not true. When i copy mp3's to the sdcard in the "My Music" folder and try to play them with the media player the phone says unsupported format. I tried different mp3 formats without success.
I found out that the phone supports the aac format. So when you convert the mp3's to aac the phone will be able to play them.
You can batch process a whole directory in Linux with the console application ffmpeg with the following command: for f in *.mp3; do ffmpeg -i "$f" -acodec aac -strict experimental -ab 128k "${f%.mp3}.aac"; done
In windows the are some GUI programs which can do the conversion also for instance fre:ac Free Audio Converter.
When you copy the converted files to the "My Music" folder the phone will play the files.
